UW and FoW are generally solo farmed in NM because it does not effect Material (Obsidian and Ectos) drops, but other whise most farms are only HM or much more effective in HM. Finish the games before attempting farming.

You might attempt feather farming I think (in d'alessio or naphui), it-s usually done in NM.

Honestly, I'd suggest finishing the campaigns (atleast Proph and Fact) before you start farming. Completing them will allow you to access HM, open up most of the areas where farming is viable, and give you a nice little nest egg of cash to invest in farming supplies.
It's annoying, I know, I'm currently following my own advice on it, but all indications from reading the threads in this forum point to this being the best investment of your time for now.

The only farming I do in normal mode is in Jaya Bluffs with my elementalist for feathers. I've never run a mesmer outside of Pre so I can't tell you whether or not there are any nm profitable farms for them, but 95% of the farming I do is always in HM. With a higher profit rate of items, chances of chests to be opened that will actually count towards your treasure title (even in the early areas), and the chance for rarer skins to drop gold max inscribable, HM is always the way to go unless you are simply farming for materials.

farming in NM is en vogue every Monday and for 1-2 days after while Nicholas' collectibles for the week are still marginally high in value compared to time spent farming for them. Example this week being FOW farming for gloom seeds which is best done in NM (which will also net you obsidian shards). Otherwise, like others have said feather farming in NM (jaya bluffs from Seitung harbor) is probably best example of NM farming for profit - provided feathers stay selling at 10k/stack!
